Colocasia Psylocke pairs an unusually heavy, deeply corrugated leaf texture with hot pink veins radiating from the leaf's base, veins that darken with a black outline as the leaf matures into full colour.

Veins That Gain a Black Outline as the Leaf Darkens

A young leaf on this plant runs mostly green with plain pink veins and comparatively little contrast. As the leaf matures and the blade darkens toward near-black, each pink vein picks up a distinct dark halo along its edge, visible clearly on this plant's most mature photographed leaf. That maturation sequence, green to near-black, plain veins to outlined ones, is confirmed across the three real photos here rather than assumed from a single stage.

Quilting You Can Feel Across the Whole Leaf

Beyond colour, Psylocke's surface is heavily corrugated: deep, close-set ridges running the full length of the blade give it a rougher, more sculptural texture than smoother black Colocasia such as Black Coffee or Black Coral. It's the kind of texture that reads as much through touch as through colour.

No Documented Breeder, Just a Distinctive Leaf

"Psylocke" doesn't turn up with a registered origin or breeding record in the horticultural literature available to us, so we're treating it as a collector-market trade name rather than a verified cultivar history. What is confirmed is the species: Colocasia esculenta, selected here for depth of colour, vein contrast, and surface texture rather than any documented lineage.

Texture Holds Up Best With Consistent Moisture

Bright, indirect light keeps the vein contrast and black colour at their sharpest; too little light and new leaves stay greener with less definition. Consistent moisture matters more here than for a smooth-leafed Colocasia, since the deep ridges and folds can show stress faster than a flat blade would if the soil dries out between waterings.

Arrives as a Cutting, Builds Its Texture as It Grows

This cutting ships with bulb and petiole intact, leaves removed for transit and the bulb wrapped in moist sphagnum moss, rather than as the full leafed plant shown in these photos. The heavy quilting and vein contrast shown here develop as the plant matures past its first few leaves, not necessarily on the very first leaf it produces.

Add Colocasia Psylocke to your collection for a black-leafed Colocasia with unusually heavy texture, grown and shipped from ThaiFusion Botanica in Thailand.

Shipping

We ship our plants with free Phytosanitary Certificate via the national postal services, Dragon Courier and courier companies such as DHL and UPS. Some countries require an import permit.

Please refer to our Delivery & Packaging page for more details. We do not ship on public holidays in the Kingdom of Thailand.

Packaging

We ship our tissue culture plants in foam box lined with insulating material to minimize thermal shock.

Live plants are shipped in carton boxes with ventilation holes to prevent excessive moisture from building inside the parcel.

Please refer to our Delivery & Packaging page for more details. We do not recommend importing live plants if your area experiences temperature below -5 degree Celsius.

Disclaimer

Our photos are representative examples of the plants we offer. You will receive a healthy plant of similar size and quality unless the product description clearly states that the listing is for the exact plant shown.

For selected products, actual photos of the individual plant are provided. These listings will be clearly identified, and you will receive the exact plant pictured. The date the photos were taken will also be stated. If the photos are older, you are welcome to contact us to request updated images before purchasing.

Decorative pots and accessories shown in product photos are for display purposes only and are not included unless otherwise stated.

As our plants are living products, natural variation should be expected. Differences in size, leaf count, coloration, variegation, veining, and growth habit may occur depending on the season, age of the plant, environmental conditions, and normal biological variation. These natural differences are not considered defects and are not grounds for complaints, returns, or refunds.

All sales are final once plants have been shipped. Refunds or replacements for plants that arrive dead on arrival (DOA) are available only when the conditions outlined in our Returns, Refunds & Replacement Policy have been met. Please refer to that policy for full details.

  • Light

Colocasias thrive in bright light and can tolerate several hours of direct morning or late afternoon sun. In cooler climates, full sun encourages vigorous growth and larger leaves, while in hotter regions, light afternoon shade helps prevent leaf scorch. For light colored variegation varieties, they thrive in partial shade and harsh direct sunlight may burn the leaves.

  • Temperature

Ideal temperatures range from 20–32°C (68–90°F). Growth slows significantly below 15°C (59°F), and frost can damage or kill the foliage. In cooler climates, tubers can be lifted and stored over winter.

  • Water

Colocasias are moisture-loving plants that perform best in consistently damp soil. Unlike many aroids, they tolerate wet conditions exceptionally well and can even be grown in shallow water or along pond edges. Never allow the potting mix to dry out completely during the growing season.

  • Humidity

Although Colocasias appreciate high humidity, they are more adaptable than many tropical plants. A humidity level of 50–80% encourages lush, healthy foliage, but established plants generally tolerate average household humidity.

  • Potting Mix

Use a rich, moisture-retentive yet well-aerated potting mix. A blend containing coco coir or peat moss, compost, perlite, and pine bark provides excellent drainage while retaining the moisture Colocasias prefer. Ensure that your coco based products are free from tannin.

  • Fertilizer

Colocasias are heavy feeders during active growth. Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2–3 weeks, or use slow-release 16-16-16 Osmocote according to the manufacturer's instructions to support continuous production of large, vibrant leaves.
