Veins That Fan From a Single Point
The first thing to look for on Colocasia Phet Pethai isn't the leaf's color, it's the small dark cluster where every vein meets the petiole. From that one point, near-black veins fan out toward the edges in a fixed radiating pattern, the same structure on every leaf regardless of what colors happen to fill the space between them. It's the trait that actually identifies this hybrid leaf to leaf, not the surface color, which shifts considerably from one leaf to the next.
The Palette Shifts, the Pattern Doesn't
Two leaves off the same plant can look like they came from different cultivars entirely. One can open heavily mottled, rose pink and sage green scattered in patches edge to edge with barely any bare green showing through. The next can come in pale yellow green with only a soft blush cap near the tip, the pink fading out well before it reaches the middle of the blade. Buy this plant expecting that range rather than one fixed look. The radiating dark venation from the base is the consistent part, the specific colors filling in around it are not.
A Plant Worth Watching Leaf by Leaf
Colocasia Phet Pethai is a Thai bred hybrid ("Phet" is Thai for diamond). For growers who already own heavily patterned aroids and want something that keeps producing a genuinely different result each flush rather than repeating the same photo ready leaf, that unpredictability is the actual draw here, not a downside to work around.
Bright Light Keeps the Pink Coming Through
Give it bright, indirect light. Pink and rose tones need real light intensity to develop and hold, too much shade and new leaves tend to settle into plain green with the vein pattern still visible but the color washed out. Keep the soil moist and well draining, never waterlogged, and expect steady growth in the warm, humid conditions this genus wants. Like other Colocasia, it's toxic if ingested and best kept out of reach of pets and small children.
From Cutting to First Leaf
Ships as a fresh cutting with bulb and petiole, about 20 to 30cm, the bulb wrapped in moist sphagnum moss and the top growth trimmed back for transit. It establishes and pushes new leaves from the bulb rather than arriving already leafed out, so the first leaf it produces for you will be its own read on the pattern above, not necessarily a match to either photo shown.
Shipping
Shipping
We ship our plants with free Phytosanitary Certificate via the national postal services, Dragon Courier and courier companies such as DHL and UPS. Some countries require an import permit.
Please refer to our Delivery & Packaging page for more details. We do not ship on public holidays in the Kingdom of Thailand.
Packaging
Packaging
We ship our tissue culture plants in foam box lined with insulating material to minimize thermal shock.
Live plants are shipped in carton boxes with ventilation holes to prevent excessive moisture from building inside the parcel.
Please refer to our Delivery & Packaging page for more details. We do not recommend importing live plants if your area experiences temperature below -5 degree Celsius.

Our photos are representative examples of the plants we offer. You will receive a healthy plant of similar size and quality unless the product description clearly states that the listing is for the exact plant shown.
For selected products, actual photos of the individual plant are provided. These listings will be clearly identified, and you will receive the exact plant pictured. The date the photos were taken will also be stated. If the photos are older, you are welcome to contact us to request updated images before purchasing.
Decorative pots and accessories shown in product photos are for display purposes only and are not included unless otherwise stated.
As our plants are living products, natural variation should be expected. Differences in size, leaf count, coloration, variegation, veining, and growth habit may occur depending on the season, age of the plant, environmental conditions, and normal biological variation. These natural differences are not considered defects and are not grounds for complaints, returns, or refunds.
All sales are final once plants have been shipped. Refunds or replacements for plants that arrive dead on arrival (DOA) are available only when the conditions outlined in our Returns, Refunds & Replacement Policy have been met. Please refer to that policy for full details.

Plant Care
-
Light
Colocasias thrive in bright light and can tolerate several hours of direct morning or late afternoon sun. In cooler climates, full sun encourages vigorous growth and larger leaves, while in hotter regions, light afternoon shade helps prevent leaf scorch. For light colored variegation varieties, they thrive in partial shade and harsh direct sunlight may burn the leaves.
-
Temperature
Ideal temperatures range from 20–32°C (68–90°F). Growth slows significantly below 15°C (59°F), and frost can damage or kill the foliage. In cooler climates, tubers can be lifted and stored over winter.
-
Water
Colocasias are moisture-loving plants that perform best in consistently damp soil. Unlike many aroids, they tolerate wet conditions exceptionally well and can even be grown in shallow water or along pond edges. Never allow the potting mix to dry out completely during the growing season.
-
Humidity
Although Colocasias appreciate high humidity, they are more adaptable than many tropical plants. A humidity level of 50–80% encourages lush, healthy foliage, but established plants generally tolerate average household humidity.
-
Potting Mix
Use a rich, moisture-retentive yet well-aerated potting mix. A blend containing coco coir or peat moss, compost, perlite, and pine bark provides excellent drainage while retaining the moisture Colocasias prefer. Ensure that your coco based products are free from tannin.
-
Fertilizer
Colocasias are heavy feeders during active growth. Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2–3 weeks, or use slow-release 16-16-16 Osmocote according to the manufacturer's instructions to support continuous production of large, vibrant leaves.
