Colors Borrowed From the Fruit It's Named After
Colocasia Mangosteen takes its name from the tropical fruit's own color scheme: a deep wine-red to maroon center fading out toward pale cream margins, echoing the fruit's dark purple rind giving way to pale flesh inside. Lime-green veins run through the color transition on every leaf, and on some leaves dark charcoal-black patches mix into the maroon as well, adding a third tone to the fruit-inspired palette.
A Range From Clean Two-Tone to Heavily Marbled
Some leaves keep the pattern simple: a clean wine-red center with a pale cream border and little else. Others mix in that charcoal-black patching heavily enough to dominate the leaf, leaving only fragments of the original wine and cream showing through. Both are normal expressions of the same plant rather than a sign one look is more correct than the other.
An Unverified Name Worth the Price Anyway
Like most named Colocasia in Thailand's collector trade, "Mangosteen" has no documented breeding history behind it, just the species, Colocasia esculenta, underneath a trade name. At $280, it sits near the top of this catalog's Colocasia range, priced on the strength of the color combination itself rather than a paper trail.
Light for Color, Moisture for Growth
Give it bright, indirect light to keep the wine-red tones from fading toward plain green, and keep the soil consistently moist through the growing season. Expect the usual Colocasia cycle of warm-season growth followed by dieback and regrowth from the bulb once temperatures drop.
From Bulb to Its Own Leaf
Ships as a fresh cutting with bulb and petiole, about 20 to 30cm, the bulb wrapped in moist sphagnum moss for the trip. It reestablishes and produces new leaves from the bulb after planting, so expect its own version of the wine-and-cream pattern rather than an exact match to any single photo shown.

Please refer to our Delivery & Packaging page for more details. We do not ship on public holidays in the Kingdom of Thailand.
Packaging
Packaging
We ship our tissue culture plants in foam box lined with insulating material to minimize thermal shock.
Live plants are shipped in carton boxes with ventilation holes to prevent excessive moisture from building inside the parcel.
Please refer to our Delivery & Packaging page for more details. We do not recommend importing live plants if your area experiences temperature below -5 degree Celsius.

Our photos are representative examples of the plants we offer. You will receive a healthy plant of similar size and quality unless the product description clearly states that the listing is for the exact plant shown.
For selected products, actual photos of the individual plant are provided. These listings will be clearly identified, and you will receive the exact plant pictured. The date the photos were taken will also be stated. If the photos are older, you are welcome to contact us to request updated images before purchasing.
Decorative pots and accessories shown in product photos are for display purposes only and are not included unless otherwise stated.
As our plants are living products, natural variation should be expected. Differences in size, leaf count, coloration, variegation, veining, and growth habit may occur depending on the season, age of the plant, environmental conditions, and normal biological variation. These natural differences are not considered defects and are not grounds for complaints, returns, or refunds.
All sales are final once plants have been shipped. Refunds or replacements for plants that arrive dead on arrival (DOA) are available only when the conditions outlined in our Returns, Refunds & Replacement Policy have been met. Please refer to that policy for full details.

Plant Care
-
Light
Colocasias thrive in bright light and can tolerate several hours of direct morning or late afternoon sun. In cooler climates, full sun encourages vigorous growth and larger leaves, while in hotter regions, light afternoon shade helps prevent leaf scorch. For light colored variegation varieties, they thrive in partial shade and harsh direct sunlight may burn the leaves.
-
Temperature
Ideal temperatures range from 20–32°C (68–90°F). Growth slows significantly below 15°C (59°F), and frost can damage or kill the foliage. In cooler climates, tubers can be lifted and stored over winter.
-
Water
Colocasias are moisture-loving plants that perform best in consistently damp soil. Unlike many aroids, they tolerate wet conditions exceptionally well and can even be grown in shallow water or along pond edges. Never allow the potting mix to dry out completely during the growing season.
-
Humidity
Although Colocasias appreciate high humidity, they are more adaptable than many tropical plants. A humidity level of 50–80% encourages lush, healthy foliage, but established plants generally tolerate average household humidity.
-
Potting Mix
Use a rich, moisture-retentive yet well-aerated potting mix. A blend containing coco coir or peat moss, compost, perlite, and pine bark provides excellent drainage while retaining the moisture Colocasias prefer. Ensure that your coco based products are free from tannin.
-
Fertilizer
Colocasias are heavy feeders during active growth. Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2–3 weeks, or use slow-release 16-16-16 Osmocote according to the manufacturer's instructions to support continuous production of large, vibrant leaves.
