Bred From Two Colocasia Already in This Collection
Colocasia Angel Mask is described in the trade as a cross between Colocasia 'Pharaoh's Mask' and Colocasia 'White Lava', both sold elsewhere in this catalog. From Pharaoh's Mask it appears to take the raised, almost embossed black venation; from White Lava, the pale cream-to-pink coloring that fills in around those veins. Whether or not the exact parentage is formally documented, the resemblance to both parents is genuinely visible leaf to leaf.
A Pattern That Reads Like a Face
Black veins radiate out from a point near the base of the leaf, each one raised enough to feel slightly embossed under a finger, with pink and cream filling the channel down the center and green covering the rest of the blade. Grouped together the way they converge near the base, the veins read almost like a stylized face, which is presumably where the name comes from. The intensity of the pink varies leaf to leaf, some leaves showing strong magenta veining and others a much softer, muted rose, but the radiating black structure itself holds steady across the whole plant.
Light for Contrast, Moisture for Growth
Give it bright, indirect light to keep the pink coloring from fading toward plain green, and keep the soil consistently moist through the growing season. Like other Colocasia here, it wants warmth and humidity and will die back in cooler weather before regrowing from the bulb.
A Cutting, Not a Finished Leaf
Ships as a fresh cutting with bulb and petiole, about 20 to 30cm, the bulb wrapped in moist sphagnum moss for the trip. It reestablishes and produces new leaves from the bulb after planting, each one its own version of the vein pattern described above.

Our photos are representative examples of the plants we offer. You will receive a healthy plant of similar size and quality unless the product description clearly states that the listing is for the exact plant shown.
For selected products, actual photos of the individual plant are provided. These listings will be clearly identified, and you will receive the exact plant pictured. The date the photos were taken will also be stated. If the photos are older, you are welcome to contact us to request updated images before purchasing.
Decorative pots and accessories shown in product photos are for display purposes only and are not included unless otherwise stated.
As our plants are living products, natural variation should be expected. Differences in size, leaf count, coloration, variegation, veining, and growth habit may occur depending on the season, age of the plant, environmental conditions, and normal biological variation. These natural differences are not considered defects and are not grounds for complaints, returns, or refunds.
All sales are final once plants have been shipped. Refunds or replacements for plants that arrive dead on arrival (DOA) are available only when the conditions outlined in our Returns, Refunds & Replacement Policy have been met. Please refer to that policy for full details.

Plant Care
-
Light
Colocasias thrive in bright light and can tolerate several hours of direct morning or late afternoon sun. In cooler climates, full sun encourages vigorous growth and larger leaves, while in hotter regions, light afternoon shade helps prevent leaf scorch. For light colored variegation varieties, they thrive in partial shade and harsh direct sunlight may burn the leaves.
-
Temperature
Ideal temperatures range from 20–32°C (68–90°F). Growth slows significantly below 15°C (59°F), and frost can damage or kill the foliage. In cooler climates, tubers can be lifted and stored over winter.
-
Water
Colocasias are moisture-loving plants that perform best in consistently damp soil. Unlike many aroids, they tolerate wet conditions exceptionally well and can even be grown in shallow water or along pond edges. Never allow the potting mix to dry out completely during the growing season.
-
Humidity
Although Colocasias appreciate high humidity, they are more adaptable than many tropical plants. A humidity level of 50–80% encourages lush, healthy foliage, but established plants generally tolerate average household humidity.
-
Potting Mix
Use a rich, moisture-retentive yet well-aerated potting mix. A blend containing coco coir or peat moss, compost, perlite, and pine bark provides excellent drainage while retaining the moisture Colocasias prefer. Ensure that your coco based products are free from tannin.
-
Fertilizer
Colocasias are heavy feeders during active growth. Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2–3 weeks, or use slow-release 16-16-16 Osmocote according to the manufacturer's instructions to support continuous production of large, vibrant leaves.
