Alocasia 'Regal Shields' is a patented hybrid known for its large, matte, shield-shaped leaves and sturdy, upright growth habit. The Aurea Variegated form adds genuine, unstable yellow variegation on top of that already imposing leaf, meaning no two plants show quite the same balance of green to gold.

Botanical Background

Alocasia 'Regal Shields' is a hybrid selection grown as a rhizomatous herb in humid, shaded conditions typical of the genus. As with other Alocasia, the sap contains calcium oxalate crystals and should be kept away from pets and children.

Growing Conditions

Give it bright, indirect light, warmth between 18-27C (65-80F), a well-draining chunky aroid mix, and humidity above 60% where possible, a covered setup or grow cabinet will noticeably improve leaf size and variegation clarity.
