Why Collectors Seek It Out

The Sanderiana group is prized for its dramatically toothed, almost spiny leaf margin, a shape that stands out sharply against rounder-leaved Alocasia. The Aurea form adds genuine, unstable yellow variegation on top of that dramatic shape.

Botanical Background

Alocasia "Pseudo Sanderiana" is grown as a rhizomatous herb in humid, shaded forest conditions typical of the genus. As with other Alocasia, the sap contains calcium oxalate crystals and should be kept away from pets and children.

Growing Conditions

Give it bright, indirect light, warmth between 18-27C (65-80F), a well-draining chunky aroid mix, and humidity above 60% where possible, a covered setup or grow cabinet will noticeably improve leaf size and variegation clarity.
